The Rain Guardian Bunker is a pretreatment system for biorention that captures sediment and larger debris. The top grate of the structures initially captures leaf litter and larger debris, while the chamber base and filter wall capture and house smaller particles before the stormwater enters the bioretention system. This pretreatment prevents stormwater passing by the bioretention system before it reaches capacity.
Bunkers are suggested for residential use, due to the bunker's ability to support both pedestrian and light vehicle traffic.
Rain Guardian offers simple installation and maintenance, with placement taking just minutes and the ability to be retrofitted to existing structures. Maintenance involves removal of sediment and debris with a shovel and cleaning the drop-in filter with a broom or hose. The lightweight steel grate and simple rectangular design make cleanout and maintenance quick and easy.
