Bridges and other large structures are supported on bearing devices to transmit forces while accomodating all structural movements. In order to select an appropriate bearing device, the magnitude of horizontal and vertical forces transmitted through the bearing assembly and the amount of displacement and rotation of superstructure elements must be considered.
